One of the countless things we love about surfing is the depth of it; from surfboards design to weather patterns, there are myriad rabbit holes one can get lost in.
This week we enjoyed this article from Magicseaweed where they reply to some questions about how different weather / bathymetry variables affect our surfing experience: “Your Instagram Surf Forecasting Questions Answered”.
Weather forecasting tools (like Magicseaweed) are incredibly invaluable when deciding every day where to go surfing based on the swell size and its direction, winds and tides (+ local knowledge, which often makes the difference).
As soon as September started we could immediately feel here in Portugal a switching into gears of the Atlantic Ocean. Autumn is getting close and we’ve been having a steady run of fun waves and calmer winds. September and October are our favourite surfing months here in Portugal (you can join us in October).
The photo is from sometime/somewhere last week; very few people in the water, great weather and some fun glassy waves!
And here are the links.
Find the one that suits you best:
For the hi-fi surfing lover: “DIGITAL SURF, DIGITAL WORLD”. (RADICAL!).
For the conscious reader: “Are wave pools sustainable?” (at the end of the day, not really).
For the style and relaxation lover: “Inner Wild”. (so much style and grace in this video).
For the one always shaking his head and thinking “kids these days”: “Jackson Dorian and Sky Brown surf in a wavepool”. Also, Sky Brown (11 yo) jumping the mega skate ramp. (????!?).
For the old soul: “Mick Fanning Rides The McTavish Bluebird”. (a match made in heaven).
That’s all from us folks @ the surf tribe
