While the surf has been good on the Atlantic side of Europe (Portugal), it’s always great to see surfers enjoying waves close to home in the Mediterranean sea.
Last week there was a “Medicane” (a Mediterranean hurricane) that sent – along with severe weather – incredible waves to many surf spots.
Roberto D’Amico was one of the Italian surfers back at home that ended up scoring great waves in “30 hours hunting for waves”. Suggestion: skip to 5:30 for the surf if you don’t understand Italian.
After Portugal, the surf tribe will be heading to the gorgeous Sardinia, the most swell-exposed island in the Mediterranean: we will be spending one week with 7x Italian surf champion and true local Alessandro Piu, scoring waves and discovering all that the island has to offer.
Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advance surfer your can join us from the 15 to 22 of November: find out more or reply to this email.
Some links to spice up your week.
First up is “Rollick”. I don’t know if it’s the infectious music, Andy Nieblas’ hairstyle or his incredible surfing skills but every time I watch this video I’m really tempted to just to buy a longboard and move to California.
This is the actual title of a real surfing video: “Wizards are Real and They Surf Finless”. I dare you not to click on this and find out what it’s about (mild spoiler: common wizarding misconceptions and brilliant surfing skills).
If you watched the two videos above, you might be ready for some more “serious” (?!?!) surfing. If what you’re craving for is a big surfer on big waves doing big carves and getting big barrels: “Spirit” starring Jay Davies (shot in Western Australia and somewhere in Sumatra).
We’re big fans of the “Stab in the Dark” concept – surfer tries different surfboards without knowing who shaped them and then chooses a winner. It’s cool because we get to see someone skilled and knowledgeable riding and analyzing different crafts. Stab recently released for free “Noa Deane's Electric Acid Surfboard Test” where mr surfer Noa Deane rides alternative surfboards on the North Shore of Oahu (Hawaii).
In a week the whole tribe is finally back to the ocean, for two weeks of surfing in Santa Cruz, Portugal. We’re excited!
Remember: keep on being stoked.
Yours truly,
